Message from our Chair

I have been involved with Bradford City Women's FC for 22 years and have been Chair for the majority of those years. Due to a number of changing personal circumstances, albeit with a heavy heart, I feel that I must now finally 'hang up my boots'. I have tried to do this previously, but have never quite been able to leave for any length of time. However the time is now right for me to step aside, to allow fresh ideas to come into the Club and further cement the development of this great Club.

The two greatest challenges that I have faced every season is funding/sponsorship, and securing sufficient volunteers to form the Committee that runs the Club, and other volunteers to help on match days and behind the scenes. It is the question of volunteers that I am most concerned with at the moment. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our Club, without them we would not be able to continue providing the best quality football possible for the young women of Bradford and beyond.

With my departure at Christmas the Club need a new Chair, a new treasurer is also needed, as well as several more volunteers to help on match days and to cover specific tasks behind the scenes.

Like every other voluntary organisation, it is always difficult for us to attract new volunteers, but this is a unique opportunity to become involved in the ever-growing Women's game, to have the chance to influence the direction and journey the Club will take , and to gain experience in lead roles in a voluntary organisation that would enhance your personal CV. Above all it is an opportunity to support an organisation and enjoy working with some committed volunteers, including players, and coaching staff.

You may feel you don't have sufficient time to help, but even if you have a very limited amount of time available, a task can be adapted to fit. More information, including descriptions of task roles can be provided, by emailing me directly – Generally the ability to enjoy working as part of a team is very important, and for the Chair role leading and managing the team to run the Club will also be crucial.

Please contact us urgently to offer whatever help you can. Bradford City needs a Women's Football Club and without more volunteers it will simply not be able to continue after Christmas.

Thank you, Sally
