City smashed their way into the West Riding County Cup semi-finals with a resounding win over Brayton Belles from the West Riding Premier division.
The pitch at Eccleshill was really heavy due to the weather but the bright sunshine had at least cleared the early frost. Extra support was supplied from Ilkley Town U14 Girls who were today’s mascots, they were a credit to their club, even forming a guard of honour for both teams as they came off the pitch at the full time.
After last week’s disappointing show it was vital that City made a quick start, and they did! Amelia Hunt, playing in a more advanced position to normal scoring twice in the first 10 minutes. The third goal came from a powerful shot from Charlotte Stuart that the Belles keeper couldn’t hold onto. Hunt then got another to complete her first half hat-trick taking the Bantams into a comfortable first half lead.
Half time - Bradford City Women 4-0 Brayton Belles
The second half started where the first half ended with City getting the fifth just five minutes into the half courtesy of a long range strike from the left boot of Harriet Jakeman. The half saw further goals from Amelia White netting twice, a Beth Shepherd header, another from Hunt, a close range strike from Masie Norde and a deflected Zoe Roberts free kick. In between the City goal fest Belles did get a consolation goal with a fine strike from 25 yards and Belles to their credit did battle on to the finish.
Full time - Bradford City Women 11-1 Brayton Belles
The game pleased manager Chris Hames immensely and stand out performances from Amelia Hunt scoring 4 playing further up the pitch than her normal right back position, a first start from Amelia White who had been promoted from the reserves scoring twice and a tireless shift from Ellie Prothero on the left wing all impressing.
