6th July 08

Please read the news letter. There is some important information on it for you all to digest.

Friendlies and league matches are fast approaching. Please make sure that you forward me dates that you are unavailable for as soon as you know.

I can’t stress enough that we need to gather sponsors for match days etc. Or at least raise lots of money from the 3 peaks walk. You are all involved at City now and we all have to pull together and do our bit. Don’t just expect others to do all the work.

Training going well so far. Just a reminder to all players…………………….Don’t think that just turning up to training sessions will warrant you a place in the first or ‘A’ Team. You are all being monitored on a range of different qualities that will be assessed within the following 4 weeks. Then decisions will be made as to whether you have made the grade required to play in the teams. Hard work during training and away from the training ground will pay off.

The 7th August is the date for re-assessment regarding fitness tests. You have been warned.  These test results will determine whether or not you have reached a good fitness level.

28th June 08

Players who have not yet completed their fitness assessments please meet earlier this Sunday and you can get through them before the training session starts.

Club registration forms have been sent out to existing players. If you have received one please complete and hand in to me (Steve) at training. Forms will be available for any players who didn’t receive one and for new players. Please ask for details at training.

LEAGUE signing on forms.

There will be a date announced within the next 7 days  as to when the club is holding it’s 1st XI and ‘A’ Team League registration signing on days. Senior players will be expected to sign on for both teams if asked to by the coaches.

Sponsor sheets are now available so please get cracking and lets raise as much money as possible for the club and Cancer Research.

Player Sponsors. Have you got sponsored yet??   Get moving and get your sponsors name and money into me ASAP please.!!!!

23rd June 08

All senior players who could not make the open day on the 22nd June please contact me ASAP to arrange another appointment for you to complete your fitness assessment and personal info forms. I will try and arrange another date to suit you all so we can move on and concentrate on our pre-season training programme.

Several players may have misunderstood the discussion at the open day regarding team selection. For the record- I mentioned that I will be formally notifying players who I feel have proved themselves fit enough and good enough during the pre-season training programme to start in the 1st XI squad. I will be naming 16 outfield players and 2 goalkeepers. These 18 players will be given a shirt number for the season and will have to work hard to keep their place in the squad of 18. All other senior players at Bradford City will, in my eyes be classed as the nineteenth member of the squad and once the season gets under way if or when one of the 18 squad members under performs or lets me down then one of the nineteenth squad members will become one of the 18 but with their own number, and so on……The dropped player will then have to earn their place back and the new player has the chance to perform and keep their place. The Goalkeepers will be numbered 1 & 13 and the out field players will have 2-12 &14-18. Thereafter numbers 19, 20 etc, etc will come into play. This system gives all players a fair chance to earn and keep their place in the 1st XI squad. On a typical match day, dependent on numbers available I will be selecting a team with 3 subs, which make 14 players and in an ideal world I would expect the remaining 4 players from the 18 squad members to play in the ‘A’ for that particular week. Then dependant on systems played / tactical substitutions and/or injuries I will rotate the players who sat on the bench with the squad players who played in the ‘A’ team unless I see fit to let them start the following week for the 1st XI.

Don’t forget to get your players sponsorship sorted out this week. Once you have it it’s done and out of the way.

From Thursday night you can all start collecting sponsor money for the 3 peaks walk. Lets raise as much as possible before the start of the season.

See you all Thursday. 6.15pm ready for a 6.30pm start!
