Bradford City U 12’s   8-0   Westend Tigers U12’s        (L)

City showed that they hadn’t lost any of their passion to win the league even after a long spell without a competitive game

Today’s opponents West End Tigers are struggling in league 3 but they made City work for the result especially in the first 15 minutes of the game..

Lavinia White scored City’s first, with a fine glancing header after the Tiger defence blocked Rosie McDonnel’s initial goal bound shot.

Bradford’s nerves were calmed and shortly after Natasha Wilkinson banged in the second, for her seventh of the season. City continued to press, forcing the Tiger’s goalkeeper into several fine saves with efforts from City players Sallie O’Brien, (who looked threatening from the start), and Rosie McDonnell who showed some fine first touches and great attacking dribbles into the heart of the Tiger defence andt was extremely unfortunate not to get on the score sheet.

Maariyah Nazir who played in the heart of midfield for the first time today did well playing some neat passes to set up attacks, and showed that she not afraid to get stuck into the thick of things

Bradford defenders and goalkeeper Lauren Brady, Maham Karim and Molly Bloodworth respectively soaked up any pressure from the Tigers attack, the two defenders constantly blocking and tackling City out of trouble. Molly Bloodworth continued to grow in stature distributing the ball well for Bradford to set up attacks

Half time 3-0

In the second half the whole City team started to play some attractive football maintaining possession of the ball extremely well, passing and moving the ball confidently from the back to the front I’m sure all the parents and supporters watching were impressed with what they saw!

Red hot Lavinia White, scorer of six goals, appeared to be all over the park today especially down the right hand side taking on the Tigers strongest player and supplying several pinpoint crosses for the City strike force.

In front of goal she was deadly, the pick of the goals was a cheeky chip over the Tiger’s goalkeeper from 20yards. 44 goals for the season, can she finish with over 50?

Even though the Tigers were well beaten, they continue to attack City goal on the counter attacking well on a couple of occasions.

Natasha Wilkinson was in the right place at the right time, latching onto a fumble from the opponent’s goalkeeper and scored that goal rounded off a comfortable win for City. WELL DONE GIRLS, same again on Thursday

Final Score 8-0

2nd March 2008

Bradford City U 12’s   7-0   Middleton U12’s (L)

On a difficult day for playing football due to the windy conditions, City were up against a new look Middleton team who have recently enjoyed a good run of results. Middleton  caused City problems from the off but fell behind due to Lavinia White goal 5minutes into proceedings. City began to get more of the ball and  Georgia Clipson got a further two goals for the home team.

Bradford went in 3-0 at the interval, now faced having the wind against them but this didn’t seem to faze City as they started to play some good football, playing the ball along the ground, passing and supporting each other throughout the pitch. Everyone worked hard and City began to dominate the game leaving Middleton chasing shadows at times.

Middleton’s goal was peppered with shots, Lavinia White hitting the crossbar, post and unfortunately placed a penalty wide after a Middleton player handballed a goal bound shot on the line. Georgia Clipson was unlucky not to add more goals, until Rosie McDonnell (2) and Natasha Wilkinson (2) sealed a superb second half performance from Bradford. Hats off to Middleton who kept on fighting to the end

Well done Molly Bloodworth a well deserved clean sheet . She made important saves in goal, helped by a strong defence of Lauren Brady, Maham Karim and Maariyah Nazir who all made excellent tackles and blocks

Final score 7-0, same again next week!

Gomersal & Cleckheaton 12’s     1-14    Bradford City U 12’s    (L)

A relocated game saw City gain home advantage against Gomersal & Cleckheaton on a blustery Sunday morning.

Bradford welcomed back midfield general Georgia Clipson for today’s encounterand newly positioned striker Rosie McDonnell carried on from where she left off last week getting the game off to a flying start with two fine solo goals. Rosie was too hot to handle for G&C down the left hand side, notching up 6 goals in total in a fantastic display..

Lavinia White constantly caused problems on the right wing, she in turn finished the game with 4, two in each half, City came in at half time 5-1up and now had the wind on their backs and went on to dominate a brave C&G team.

Lauren Brady and Maham Karim were again water tight (well most of the time)

in defence, Maariyah Nazir continued to perform well in midfield, alongside Sallie O’Brien who scored 2 goals, with runs out of midfield. Uroosa Rani Ali again put in a gallant effort and was unlucky not to get on the score sheet.

Georgia Clipson gave a sterling performance, ending the game with 2 goals and was unfortunate not to score more, after skillfully rounding the C&G goalkeeper twice.

Molly Bloodworth had a quieter game in goal but cleaned up well when duty called.

Final Score 14-1, three consecutive wins for City in 2008, keep up the good work girls

Next fixture: Horsforth St.Margarets (Applerly Bridge)

Hemworth Miners 12’s     1-6    Bradford City U 12’s    (C)

Bradford City girls were on their travels after drawing unknown Hemsworth Miners from Division 1 away in the Shield, but they weren’t fazed when for the first 15 minutes they played with only 5 players and even found themselves a goal up thanks to Rosie McDonnell.

When the team was back to full strength, Hemsworth were causing City problems until Lavinia White scored and Rosie McDonnell with an exquisite finish made it 3 0 by half time.

City came out for the second half and played some excellent attacking football, working well as a team and being a constant threat to the Miners defence.

Sallie O’Brien went on to score two fine goals and Lavina White not to be out done by Rosie McDonnell’s first half effort sealed things with a 15-yard pile driver.

Lauren Brady who covered every blade of grass was superb in the heart of the defence, and Maham Karim also put in a solid performance in defence. In the last five minutes he Miners managed to get one back which was unfortunate for Molly Bloodworth who as City shot stopper gave a sterling performance between the posts

Strong support was given by other team members Maariyah Nazir and Uroosa Rani Ali

Second place Bradford were at home to third place Shelf in an encounter which promised much. Bradford started brightly and created some good chances but Shelf looked threatening on the break. With 10 minutes gone it was Shelf who took the lead and two minutes later scored again to make it 2-0 to the visitors. Shelf’s tactic of playing two up front had caused some concerns in the Bradford defence but from this second goal Natasha Wilkinson, Maham Karim, and Molly Bloodworth making her first start in nets, grew in understanding and gave excellent performances.

City soon put the shock of the two goals behind them and continued to cause problems for the Shelf defence. In the last ten minutes of the half Bradford’s good football came to fruition with a goal a piece for Georgia, Rosie and Lavinia to snatch a halftime lead.

At halftime one change was made with the hard working Sally O’Brien making way for Uroosa Rani Ali. The game continued in much the same pattern in front with Bradford having the larger share of possession, but Shelf looking to break. Bradford were now well marshalled by a confident defence ably supported by the midfield of Rosie, Georgia and Uroosa who got back well when needed. The next goal was always going to be crucial and it didn’t come until the last quarter of the game. Another good move by Bradford resulted in a goal for Georgia and it proved a turning point. Georgia soon got another to seal her hat trick. Lavinia not to be out done added to her score  to seal her own hat trick.  Rosie added another  before Lavinia completed the scoring and Bradford ended up comfortable winners with a 9-2 score line.

Another good result for Bradford U12’s  who remain second in the league on goal difference, and have a week off next week before a trip to Silsden the week after.

7th October 2007

Horsforth St.Margarets U12's  4-2   Bradford City U12's

For the third game of the season Bradford City Under 12’s made the short journey To Horsforth St Margarets.  Maham had been involved in a car crash during the week and although not seriously injured she was not fit to play. (We all send you Maham, our best wishes and hope for a speedy recovery). This left us with only 6 players. (Please see message at the end).

Despite being one player short City battled well and had the best of the early exchanges.  Halfway through the half Horsforth opened the scoring and quickly added a second. Still the magnificent 6 battled away  and looked the better team. Despite going close on several occasions City were unlucky up front and it was Horsforth who scored again.

With a few minutes to go to half time Lavinia calmly scored the goal we deserved. The teams went into the halftime break with Horsforth 3-1 in front.

City opened the second half brightly and some good play by Georgina was rewarded by another excellent finish by Lavinia. The girls sensed they could turn this game around and continued to dominate large periods of the game. With % minutes to go they were caught on the break and Horsforth ended the game 4-2 winners. All the Bradford parents and supporters were full of praise for the girls who had played really well and hadn’t let circumstances prevent them from putting in a great performance. Rosie’s mum summed it up by saying ‘they were six of the best’.

IMORTANT MESSAGE

The heart of any club, in my opinion are the juniors, especially the younger teams like the under 12’s and we really need to make sure that we give them the help and the support they need. At the moment for a 7 aside league we only have 8 players and no goalkeeper. I would ask everyone to spread the word that we are desperate for girls from 7-11 (we are trying to get an under 10’s going as well).  Please help us find some extra players. The girls are doing great and playing good football and are capable of doing well in the league.  It’s such a shame we are handicapped by numbers

23rd September

Bradford City U12’s  14-1  Gomersal & Cleckheaton

Amy Gray (18)

Lavinia White  (20,23,26,30,35,38,45,51,59 )

Natasha Wilkinson (42, 55)

Georgia Clipson (48,56)

Following an impressive away win in the opening fixture of the season last week, the under 12’s  were  hopeful  that they could build on that performance with the visit of Cleckheaton & Gomersal.

The first fifteen minutes were played largely in the visitors’ half and City created several chances but the visitors’ keeper made some impressive saves. Lavinia started in defence but  at the mid point of the half she was moved up front. The effect of this was dramatic and immediate. After some impressive play Lavinia played a nice pass to Amy who calmly slotted home. The whole team continued to play well but Lavinia capitalised on our chances and scored 4 before half time. City went in with an impressive 5-0 lead.

Uroosa kindly switched with Natasha in the goals at halftime to let her get a little more involved in the action. Lavinia started the second half as she ended the first, with a goal, and City were 6 to the good. Cleckheaton & Gomersal battled all game and were rewarded with a goal from a free kick. This did not deter City and Lavinia was soon on the score sheet again. Four minutes later. Natasha took the ball out of defence and just kept on going. Heading in a straight line she ploughed through the opposition before blasting the ball into the net. Lavinia got another before Georgia scored a well deserved goal.

City were pressing forward throughout the second half and Maham impressed on a couple of occasions when she was the sole defender as Cleckheaton & Gomersal counter attacked. On each occasion she defended brilliantly. Amy and Maariyah worked hard on the wings all game and linked well with Georgia in the centre Uroosa played in attack defence and goal to show how versatile she is. Natasha and Georgia both got another goal each, while Lavinia scored another 2 making it a triple hat trick.

Two wins out of two and two good performances. The under 12’s with their new coach/manager Matt Reynolds have made an excellent start to the season.
