City made the long trip
down the M1 to Leicester to get their pre-season friendlies underway at the weekend and came away with a one all draw. With
a mixture of last seasons u16’s, existing players and a couple of returns from yesteryear it was a very satisfying start
to the 2010/11 campaign. City went behind in the first 3 minutes when a through ball caught out the back
four allowing the Leicester striker a one on one situation beating Mel Garside-Wight, the City keeper with
a well struck shot. Despite the early shock City soon settled and went about their business. With formations changing every
30 minutes and personnel moving around it was pleasing to see all the City players sticking to their tasks and work well together.
Tammika Clarke scored City’s only goal in the match, but it was a memorable one. With a superb first touch to bring
the ball down from an inch perfect cross from Aimee Driver, Clarke took one look at the target and sweetly hit the ball in
off the upright giving the Leicester City keeper no chance at all. The match was played in a very good spirit between the
two teams and City would like to thank Leicester for their hospitality.
